Comfort is key

Despite the fact that I have made good use of this shirt, over six plus years of ownership, it is heading to the thrift shop. It is an awkward cut and fabric combination which, in turn, renders it an awkward fit. Not so awkward that I didn’t wear it but awkward enough that I no longer wish to own it. I just really don’t want clothing that isn’t completely comfortable anymore. I am not a fashionista, I am a middle age woman who just wants to be comfortable. As the seasons change and I move last season’s clothes to the storage box and this season’s out there will likely be more clothing culling going on.

Do to have clothes lingering in your closet that you no longer wear or don’t feel comfortable in? Maybe is is time to let them go.

  1. I have a couple of cocktail outfits. I don’t go any where I need to wear something that fancy any more. My daughter borrows them once a year for Christmas party. With covid that might change in the future. Luckily my closet is barely half filled, so plenty of room for these seasonal outfits. I was ruthless about keeping only clothes that I love & fit well. No more “making do” with clothes that aren’t quite right

  2. I know what you mean. I’m tired of things that look good or ok but don’t feel that way. I have been gradually giving them away as I can afford to replace them. Our thrift shop here on campus had all the clothes on sale for a dollar. I bought two blouses and a dress. We couldn’t try them on. So I got them home and I like two of them but the one blouse doesn’t fit right. It hits my hips wrong. I’m 5’0” so sometimes blouses do that. They are either too long or too short sometimes.

  3. I totally agree, Colleen! Sadly I gained some weight last year, and although I have hardly any clothes anyway (hate to shop), trying on everything in my closet is in my future.

On a positive note, I was able to remove 30+ items from the house this week because a friend is selling it for me in her antique booth. Plus, 39 pieces of Corelle dishes!!! The declutter continues!
I hope you will hang around a while and keep us motivated all the more! . I’d love to see everyone commenting again!
