The problem with “old, shabby shoes” (and clothes) is that they got that way because they were our favorites… so tough to say “goodbye” to them! I have a pair of “boat shoes” that are very ratty (think worn-through toes)… But I keep them because they are comfy and I use them for walking. I use a ratty old pair of clogs I keep by the door, to run outside for a minute. I guess if I couldn’t use these items anymore, that is when I would be able to part with them 🙂 Same thing with pajamas… I have a ratty pair that aren’t even pjs really but I use them for that. The sleepwear I see in stores never seems right for me 🙁
