Mini Mission Monday is about finding ten minutes a day to declutter. To make it easy for you, each Monday I set seven declutter missions, one for each day of the week for you to follow. It takes the guess work out of decluttering and makes it easy and “fun” for you to achieve some quick decluttering.
This week, for our mini missions, we are going to visit little nooks and crannies around the house which may have, up until now, remained untouched by human hands, or the vacuum cleaner for that matter, during our previous decluttering efforts. I will list seven places I have thought of below, but if you have already taken care of these areas or you don’t have them in your home make some up for yourself. Don’t just declutter these areas give them a clean up as well.
Monday – The bottom of your linen closet.
Tuesday – A corner of your garage, attic or basement.
Wednesday – The cupboard under the stairs.
Thursday – Under your bed or any other bed in the house.
Friday – The cupboard/space under your laundry or kitchen sink.
Saturday – The top or bottom shelf of the pantry.
Sunday - Sunday is reserved for contemplating one particular item, of your choice that is proving difficult for you to declutter. Whether that be for sentimental reasons, practical reasons, because the task is laborious or simply unpleasant, or because the items removal requires the cooperation of another person. That last category may mean that the item belongs to someone else who has to give their approval, it could also mean there is a joint decision to be made or it could mean that the task of removing it requires assistance from someone else. There is no need to act on this contemplation immediately, it is more about formulating a plan to act upon or simply making a decision one way or another.

Good ones Colleen. I am staying with friends while waiting to move to an apartment. Nooks and crannies are the norm here. This place is full of them and they are full and overflowing. Would love to give this place a good clean out. Sigh!
Colleen Madsen says
That must be driving you crazy.
Deb J says
Yes. Thankfully the room I am using isn’t too bad but the rest of the house is a disaster.
Kimberley says
Deb J.,
This too shall pass. This is the last step before your new home. Maybe your friends would benefit from your de-cluttering wisdom when appropriate to offer?
Colleen Madsen says
Good advice Kimberley
Deb J says
Kimberley, I think they would let me declutter but would go back to just clutter it again. They would need a lot of retraining.
Colleen Madsen says
Hi Deb, is this the same place you decluttered before?
Deb J says
No it is not. Thankfully. S has had a family of 3 living with her for over a year and her house is a mess again but that will improve once the family moves out. She liked it when it was decluttered.
Colleen Madsen says
Well I am glad about that.
Kimberley says
Colleen,
Mahalo for the belly laugh. When I saw “Nooks & Crankies” as your title I immediately thought that in your neck of the woods you call crannies, crankies, till I read the post. I like crankies, because all of the stuff in the nooks and crannies will make one crankie 🙂
Colleen Madsen says
Oh God Kimberley I have done it again. Wasn’t a good day yesterday and then I realised I had also forgotten to publish a post. Did it in too big of a hurry obviously. Thanks for letting me know.
Nicole V says
I liked the ‘Crankies’, Colleen. 🙂
Colleen Madsen says
I kind of liked the Crankies too Nicole. Maybe I should make that the theme of a set of mission another day.
Nicole V says
I think you should, Colleen … it sounds like it could be so much fun. 🙂
Kimberley says
I do too 🙂
Nicole V says
LOL, Kimberley!

I thought crankies was a Down Under term too. Made me chuckle.
So far I have 5 items to donate, 1 tossed.
2 paperbacks that somehow survived my massive declutter when I went to e-books.
An extra working flashlight, an extra strainer, garlic press
Tossed a ribbon Schroeder that used to work, but doesn’t now!
Thanks for the chuckle!
Calla says
Schroeder = shredder
Darn autocorrect
Colleen Madsen says
Usually I would just go in and fix these mistakes but this one is just too weird. You really have to wonder why auto correct would default to Schroeder. The only thing that come up when you use Look Up is that it is the name of a Peanuts character. I can only assume you are a Snoopy Fan. If not then there just is no explanation.
Calla says
Lol
I do like Peanuts, but don’t myself a fan by any means.
It’s one of life’s many mysteries. Lol

Well, Mondays mission was started but ended up being a bust… I gathered all of our blankets from the house in one place… then couldn’t make any decisions
I did a Tuesday – Friday combo, gathering all cleaning supplies from their various posts… found we had several glass cleaners (you would think all our windows just sparkle! LOL)… a couple of de-icers for winter, tons of lawn & garden & pest type products… I showed all this to my husband and said don’t buy any more stuff! I’m getting rid of 3 items from the bunch, & actually washed the bathroom & kitchen floors today (if you only knew how rare this is, usually just spot cleaning)…
Since I don’t have an under stairs space, I’m going to say I did Wednesday “under the laundry sink” because I went through the pail that has all my rags & microfiber cloths, rearranged it to be more useful & tossed a couple of rags…
Calla says
Just have to brag about my Mother’s Day Gift.
A load of high quality dirt, delivered. I requested it, so how could they go wrong? A clutter-free gift! Lol
Colleen Madsen says
Well, happy Mother’s Day Calla. I have got nothing so far and I hope it stays that way. My son and his family are taking me to brunch and my daughter will phone when she isn’t at work and that is all I need.
